Data Center: AetherA descendant of the Queen's guard remnant who was determined to liberate his people from the clutches of the empire. He found his way to Eorzea after a failed marine mission by the Vth Legion caused him to wash up on the coast of Old Sharlayan. After spending time undergoing physical rehabilitation and learning the ways of the people outside of Ilsabard in the scholarly city-state, he traveled to Vylbrand to petition the leaders of Limsa Lominsa for aid against the Garlean force in Bozja, but was denied his claim.Thrown out onto the streets, Vynas tried to change his own fate. Gifted with musical talent from a young age, he was able to pick up an instrument and start performing the songs of his people as a plea for help on the streets. Eventually, his efforts were noticed, and he was given a chance to perform at bars, pubs, taverns, or anywhere that needed a friendly bard to lift their spirits. With his newfound rising fame, he hopes to one day use it to contribute to the newly founded Bozjan resistance, and return to his countrymen once more.

- поміж means "among" in Ukrainian.
- нас means "us" in Ukrainian and many other Slavic languages.
- Vynas can be read as วินาศ in Thai, meaning "annihilation". I wanted something that connects to my native tongue.
- Helions prefix their surname with "A" to indicate service to the Queen.

Prologue

Born amidst the Bozjan war and the Garlean assimilation, young Vynas knew not of why the empire had taken over his home. Though he basked in the Queen’s warmth as a descendant of the remnants of the Queen’s guard, his land was being continually ravaged and exploited by his imperial subjugators, stoking a burning hatred for the empire within his noble heart with every passing moon. How he wished he could liberate his people and bring glory to the Queen’s land once more!Conscripted into the Garlean army against his will, life for Vynas was cruel. Imperial soldiers took liberty with the peasantry, kicking them around and making them do menial labor, or suffering them with humiliating tasks; violence was commonplace, and he had seen his people die by the hands of the empire far too often to count. Sometimes, he was even ordered to brutalize his countrymen, something that the Garleans would watch on with glee. His fists bundled up with rage every time, but the only thing he could do was obey, bound by his duty and fearing punishment.Desensitized by the ruthlessness of Garlean military might, he knew that the only way he could escape this hell was to petition for outside help somehow. One night, whilst playing a lute against the warmth of an open flame to calm his mind, Vynas overheard a group of patrolling soldiers mention “Eorzea”—how it was a land full of savages, and it would all be part of the Empire soon enough. He perked up his ears to listen in closely, learning more about this “Eorzea” he had never heard of before.Then it struck him. He knew what he had to do. If he could escape to “Eorzea” and appeal to its people, surely his homeland would one day be freed of the Empire’s grasp. And it does seem like he could lead a better life there than he did here. For years, he searched for a way to escape Bozja, continuing his work as a soldier and embarking on missions, occasionally encountering people who knew about Eorzea.It became his life duty to seek foreign aid to liberate his people. His day of destiny would come soon enough.

Journey to Eorzea

In the year 1561 of the Sixth Astral Era, Vynas was assigned on a reconnaissance mission to the western coast of Aldenard with a small marine corps unit. It was supposed to be a routine patrol route along the Northern Empty, and he wasn’t too bothered about it. A few months out at sea should be no problem. As he looked behind his shoulder one last time, he took a longing glance at his homeland before boarding the vessel, embarking on his life at sea for the foreseeable future.Many uneventful days, weeks, then months passed. As the only Hrothgar member of the unit, he spent his time staring out at the unending blue, unable to connect with the Garlean ranks aboard the vessel. Though they left him alone for the most part, he was lonely. He had time to contemplate his situation, wondering if he could maybe abscond to Vylbrand on their port of arrival, or simply abandon ship. The others wouldn’t care, probably—Hrothgar deserters were all too common.(This is still WIP)

Data Center: AetherA mysterious yet charming gentleman that originally hailed from the jungles of Golmore like his Viera bretheren, he set out to make something of himself in Eorzea and never looked back. Though he is still relatively young, his calm disposition and friendly demeanor earned him a place amongst the Eorzean diaspora, proving himself to be highly capable at whatever he sets his mind to mastering.Interestingly, though it is tradition to banish the Viera men who forsake the Green Word, Vynas still interacts and frequents his home village, mingling with his bretheren who couldn't find the will to exile him. His charismatic outlook on life earns him the respect and admiration of the people around him, whether he likes it or not. He does have a soft side he dares not show to others, however...The alias 'Among Us' was a city name that he picked up as soon as he left the forest, a somewhat tongue-in-cheek reference to how he himself was a stranger in a foreign land. He quickly found himself with a respectable reputation as a seasoned bartender, crafting strong drinks with a smile and flamboyant flair, all while giving his patrons a
n experience they won't soon forget.For now, bartending is just something he does because he's good at it, and enjoys the drunken smiles of his patrons. Yet surely, there must be more to life than this...
